One of the very few drawbacks to living in our neighborhood is the disregard that some of our neighbors have for the Home Owners Association rule that states: “No overnight vehicle street parking will be permitted”.
All homes in our neighborhood have a TWO car garage with driveways designed for at least two vehicles. Some residents have three or more vehicles and manage to park them in the driveway and it is greatly appreciated.
Why You Shouldn’t Park On The Street
When you are driving in and out you wonder:
Is that a moving vehicle, is it getting ready to pull out, or is it just parked.
Is there a child playing on the other side of that truck or car who might dart out into the street?
Can I get past that parked vehicle on the street before another vehicle that is coming toward me gets there? (Now you have to dodge the parked vehicle and the other driver.)
Please Don’t Park On The Street
The point is simply this: Please don’t park on the street on a regular basis even during the day. It is ok once in a while for a short period especially during visits, deliveries or contractors working at your house. Sometimes you just need to park there for some reason for several hours and that is OK. Were not saying you can't. Were just asking you to keep it to a minimum.
Ours IS NOT a neighborhood with a wide street. It is also a one street neighborhood.
Ours is a neighborhood with many cars, a lot of kids, several teen age drivers and a few cats that are allowed to roam free.
If you’re parking on the street you’re making our neighborhood LESS SAFE, LESS FRIENDLY, and LESS INVITING to visitors and future homeowners.
The Sheriff’s Office also tells residents not to park on the street as it invites the wrong element into the neighborhood and your vehicle parked there makes an easy target.
When you park on the street on a regular basis it makes it difficult to get by, for your neighbors, for delivery trucks, for garbage trucks. Also if your neighbor needs to park on the street for a short time for some reason or they have an occasional guest or party.....they can’t because of the vehicle that is always parked in the street. Your neighbor that abides by the rules must park down the street.
If you must park on the street for a short period please don’t park opposite your neighbor’s driveway making it difficult for them to back out.
Also as a reminder, BOATS are also not allowed to be parked on the street. This causes even more problems than vehicles when large vehicles try to get past them.
Garbage & Recycling containers - We would like to have 100% of our residents participate in keeping garbage cans, recycling containers and yard trash stored out of sight. It is a simple request that helps to maintain the beauty of our neighborhood. Store garbage cans in the garage, the back yard, behind some leafy shrubbery or behind a fence. Just keep it anywhere out of public view from the street. Most of the residents already store their garbage out of public view so this is a reminder. Garbage cans do not belong left in the driveway, in front of the garage door or any place else in view. Please remember that garbage cans and trash should not be placed on the street before 4:00 pm the day before pickup.
Spring Time Repairs - In another couple months spring will be upon us. Residents are responsible to maintain the yard which includes side yards and the outside in accordance with the covenant. We would like to say thank you for helping to maintain the beauty of the neighborhood and to help keep home values up in these times.
ARC Application Required - Reminder that before you make major changes to your landscape or to the exterior of your house including painting, you must fill out the ARC form and be approved prior to work starting.
Yard Signs - The only sign allowed is "one" for sale sign. All other signs are unauthorized.
Common Area's - When you see trash on the ground around the entrance, the fence or pond, please pick it up. If there are weeds in the garden, pull them. Be proud of our neighborhood. It is a lot easier to maintain the area when everyone pitches in to help. It is rewarding knowing that we are contributing to the beauty of the community.
Cats - Every month we remind the residents that cats come under the same rules as dogs and must be on a leash when outside. Since we still see cats roaming the neighborhood we can only assume they are feral cats. Several residents have complained so Animal Control has set traps out to catch them and also a opossum that has been sighted. Hopefully this will take care of the problem.
Neighborhood Watch - We are now conducting our own Neighborhood Watch Program. There will be quarterly security items posted on the web site. It will be up to each resident to look at the web site for updates.
Yard Work - It really makes the neighborhood look nice when everyone does their part. One important issue when doing yard work is DO NOT BLOW YOUR GRASS CLIPPINGS INTO THE STORM DRAINS as it could cause flooding issues. If you have a lawn service please advise them of this.
Solicitors - We can't stress this enough. When a solicitor comes to your door don't open it. You know they don't live in this neighborhood. If you think you need to open the door you should tell them solicitation is not permitted and you are going to call the police. Due to the current economic conditions, these people may be checking out the neighborhood. Don't give them a chance. Solicitors talk to other solicitors.
Dogs - When walking your dog, don't allow them to use the bathroom in your neighbor's yards. This is unacceptable and irresponsible. We all work hard and spend allot of money to maintain our lawns. In small amounts, dog feces will produce a fertilizer effect on the lawn that results in dark green patches. Over time, areas suffering only mild damage will recover on their own. Dark green patches and areas of tall grass are likely to remain for a few weeks. Animal waste is full of nitrogen. Animal urine is like a concentrated liquid fertilizer and feces acts as a slow release fertilizer. Like any fertilizer, both will burn your lawn. Even if you pick it up the feces within a few minutes damage can be done. Let your dogs use the bathroom in your own yard. Then take them for a walk.
Suspicious people - If you see someone you don't recognize in the neighborhood they probably don't belong here. If you hear or see a vehicle you don't recognize take a second look.
